Art News: Circuit 2013


Circuit 2013. The circuit of documentary and social photography in Barcelona.

These weeks are taking place last openings of the event Circuit 2013 where many institutions and centers of the city have programmed exhibitions of documentary and social photography. Three highlights you can’t miss:

Fearless Genius: The digital Revolution in Silicon Valley 1985-2000, an extense report by the american photographer Doug Menuez on Steve Jobs and the secretive tribe who built our world; part of the exhibitions of Visa pour l'Image – Perpignan 2012 Festival selected by the Photographic Social Vision Foundation.

Not to be missed the GUIDED TOUR by the author on WEDNESDAY 17 JULY at 19h. (limited places, confirm attendance on 93 316 12 86).

(Tagomago  Gallery, H2O Gallery, Victor Saavedra Gallery, Akashi Gallery, Kowasa Gallery, The Private Space, Valid Photo Bcn, Associació Fotogràfica Dotze Gats, Carles Tache Gallery, La Plataforma Gallery, Hartmann La Santa, Openhouse Project). Among them you’ll find an exhibition of the controversial photographer Antoni d’Agata.

“Afrikaneers Blood: the born free generation” by the author Ilvy Njiokiktjien from Holland is the project exhibited at Fnac as part of the Circuit 2013. The Kommandokorps, an extreme right wing group in South Africa, rejects the Nelson Mandela’s ideals of the rainbow and multicultural nation while organizing and training youngs in military camps. The photographs are proof of all remaining racial and social problems in South Africa.
